Once we receive your deposit of $20, we will mail you a kit containing everything you need for your sample collection. Inside the kit, you will find six swabs for each tested person, envelopes to ship the samples, and directions for sample collection. It is important that you follow the directions carefully to ensure that we have enough DNA to test.

The swab collection is simple and painless -- it can even be done on newborns. The swabs look like long Q-Tips. The Q-Tip end is rubbed firmly on the inside of the cheek to collect cheek cells. This is not a saliva collection. In order to collect a sufficient sample for testing, all six swabs must be used (three from each cheek). The cheek cells will stick to the swab. The swabs are then placed in the collection envelope -- be sure to correctly label the envelope with the name of the person you are collecting. DO NOT place used swabs back in the plastic wrapper that they came in. Swabs returned in plastic typically need to be recollected. The swabs are to be placed directly in the labeled envelope where the sample will remain stable.

After all samples are collected, they can be placed in the pre-paid return envelope provided with the kit and mailed to our laboratory. Testing begins once the laboratory receives all samples for the case.

If you are unclear about the collection process, please contact us. One of our client service representatives will be happy to talk you through the collection. If you have any questions or you are ready to set up a case, you can contact us at 1-888-362-7766 or by e-mail.
